In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Northridge; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Northridge is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Northridge is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This started out to be a decent place. The table was too short and too far but the first waiter we had was kind and attentive. Then he went on a break and we were left with a younger inattentive one. He finally came to relight my flame under the pot and refill my soup. He refilled my Thai Tom Yum with a pork base broth. The mixture of the Thai and Pork broth was nasty and did not look the same or taste the same. I stated so but just decided not to eat anymore. A woman came to the table, ( again, I was good. I had eaten well up until that point and I was Ok with not having anymore) and we tried to explain to her the issue but that it was OK. I told her the soup now tasted like dishwater. She told me NOT to say that. βDonβt say thatβ she said. She was very angry and nasty. She stood there scowling. She got a terrible attitude and walked away. My friend took me out for my birthday so I did not make a stink. She never came back to ask us if we were ready for our bill and no one else did either. My friend had to go get the bill. I have eaten hot pot at many places and have always enjoyed the experience and this is not a good place. Also another side note one of her employees was sitting

Food was great but the fridge area for the vegetables is located in a cramped corner and would tend to get busy with 2 groups getting veggies. Fridge and sauce area also not kept clean. Tables were not designed for hotpot eating and plates pile up with nowhere to place them. Chair not proportionate with table height making it difficult to eat. Good thing the food was delish and service was respectable compensating for the other flaws.

The soup base was very tasty. They offer at least six different broths to choose from, but I somehow always end up going with the Thai Tom Yum flavor. This restaurant recently introduced an all-you-can-eat menu and got rid of the single-pot option. From what I remember, the price didnβt increase much compared to the AYCE Standard Lunch Menu. We ordered from the standard dinner menu, which was only a few dollars more than lunch and seemed to offer the same selection. The vegetable and sauce station is self-serve and unlimited. They even have a couple of Chinese sweet treats available. The meats are also all-you-can-eat, but you have to order those from the server. Service was just OK. Thereβs no designated server for each table. Some staff were nice enough to check in and ask if we wanted to order more meat, while others seemed annoyed when we told them our fire went out once, so they had to swap out the burner for us, or when we asked for more broth. The meats were not tender, but not tough either. For the price they charge, I think itβs reasonable. Overall, it was a good experience, and we would come back.

Interesting decorations having the old TV & radio. Food was okay for me. The broth soup was refillable & you can get all your chosen veggies from the fridge & make your own dipping sauces. The meats looks fresh which is great! Service was good but we came late so m pretty sure the staff was already exhausted. I'm just so glad that they still took us in despite the fact that they already closed the wait list before us coming in & we really appreciate that. Thanks again for the service π

This is my new place. I get so much for the price that is already so reasonable. The meat is so tender and there is so much seafood and variety of mushrooms. The service is excellent and they offer cash discount and membership benefits. I come here whenever I can and recommend this place to everyone I know. The only thing is about the burner. It doesn't smell good and not sure if the fume is safe. I wish they used something else to keep the food hot.
